Legal question: I bought a car from owner representing the condition as excellent?

The car I just bought for $3,800 was sold to me under the guise of being in "excellent condition". Well, when I was forced into a service station 3 days later, I found out this was a definite fraud. The condition of the car and engine were both good but, the mechanic said to me, "the previous owner knew the fuel system had a readily identifiable defect that was difficult to fix because the parts are unavailable for this car. The owner sold me a car that he knew was going to be difficult to find parts for. This opinion will come almost any mechanic. So, $3,800 plus $300 in rental cars and a totally ususable car.

Please help! The previous owner is also trying to throw me off his trail now. He said he was leaving the country for a job overseas. I found out he actually just took another job in Pennsylvania. Again, the mechanic said he knew he couldn't get it fixed. It was a special problem with the 1997 Aurora.

You should have done your homework before you bought the car. Did you look at the car before you bought it, or did he give you the keys after you gave him the money?

You can do whatever you want, but if you go to court, it will be your word against his. You're mechanic can jump in there too, but it still won't change the law. You bought it "AS-IS" which means "No written or expressed warranty of any kind" Sorry
